HMRC’s Publishing Details of Deliberate Defaulters scheme provides information about people and businesses handed financial penalties for failing to comply with tax obligations or deliberately filing errors in tax returns. Details are published when a person or business has made at least one deliberate default on more than £25,000, according to HMRC. The list is updated every three months and the information is wiped after a year.

Peter Hughff was foudn not guilty of rape at Ipswich Crown Court (Image: Newsquest) A 31-year-old man from Stowmarket has been cleared of rape by a jury following a trial. Peter Hughff, of Kettlelea Court in the Suffolk town, was before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday. Hughff was acquitted of rape but has previously admitted six counts of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. These counts related to five separate people in April and May 2020.

Each month this newspaper and the force is running a feature focusing on different types of fraud and tips to avoid becoming a victim. This month the focus is on courier fraud which usually involves a fraudster phoning their victim and claiming to be from the bank or police.

Coroner Darren Stewart OBE opened the inquest into the death of David Stewart at Suffolk Coroners' Court on Friday. Mr Stewart said British Transport Police were alerted to an incident in Needham Market on August 23, 2024 after a train struck a pedestrian. He added: “The deceased was identified as David Morton Stewart.” Previously it was reported that Great Anglia services between Ipswich and Stowmarket were cancelled due to the incident between the two stations.

Dawn Cox, 47, from Hintlesham, died following a three-vehicle crash in Brantham on March 30. At an inquest hearing on Friday, Coroner Darren Stewart OBE suspended the opening of the inquest at Suffolk Coroners' Court as he said “charges may be brought at a later date”. Ms Cox died on April 8 this year at Addenbrooke's Hospital. Mr Stewart said Ms Cox, who was a teacher at Manningtree High School, was involved in a collision in Brantham involving two other cars on March 30.
