[UPDATE] According to a release by the City of La Crosse, an officer patrolling near Trane Park on Friday noticed an individual in the park. After making contact, the suspect would not identify himself and became resistive. The officer called for back-up and then lost radio communication. The city said officers arriving to provide back-up did not know the original officer and suspect were on the ground, and could not locate them because of poor lighting.

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WKBT) -- The case against the teen accused of killing 10-year-old Lily Peters will remain in adult court. C. P.-B. is charged with First-Degree Intentional Homicide and two counts of 1st-Degree Sexual Assault. In January 2024, Judge Gibbs denied a reverse waiver motion by the defense, keeping the case in adult court. P.-B.'s defense appealed the decision in February.

That's the House of Representatives subcommittee that oversees policy related to veteran's affairs. Some of the witnesses at Friday's hearing are veterans currently enrolled at local universities. They are sharing their experience transitioning from active duty to veteran within the education system.

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Community members teed off at the La Crosse Country Club Monday morning to support Scouting in the Coulee Region. The outing began with a shotgun start and featured hole-in-one challenges and giveaways. Participants also had the chance to meet special guest Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame Quarterback Lynn Dickey. Dickey said that his time in the Boy Scouts organization taught him a valuable lesson about discipline.

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WKBT) -- Roadways have reopened following a chemical fire in Chippewa Falls. According to a Facebook post by the Chippewa Falls Police Department, first responders were called to an interior chemical fire at TTM Technologies. At the time of the post, CFPD said the fire was out and employees had been evacuated, but the roadways were shutdown due to hazardous chemicals in the building. By 2p.m. the roadways had reopened and emergency crews left the area.

EAU CLAIRE (WKBT) -- An Eau Claire man is in custody following an investigation by the West Central Drug Task Force. According to the criminal complaint, 32-year-old James Shafer sold an informant more than 87 grams of meth over two controlled buys. Shafer is charged with two felony counts of delivery of methamphetamine and one count of maintaining a drug trafficking place. He's also charged with two counts of felony bail jumping for two open drug cases in Chippewa County.

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- New details have been shared about a La Crosse woman accused of human trafficking. 28-year-old Shantylle Kibler has been charged with 4 counts of Human Trafficking. She is also being charged with False Imprisonment, Felony Bail Jumping, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. According to the criminal complaint, the victim sold drugs for Kibler's boyfriend, Drae Broadnax, in Wausau.
