One can design beautiful sun-drenched buildings, send cheerful staff to check in with patients frequently, and employ providers who work efficiently—and even still, it’s not likely that the guests would choose to be there if they had the option. Long-term patients often yearn for their “regular life,” and even short-term patients may still miss out on fun life milestones like birthday celebrations, holidays and senior proms.
