On June 17, 2014, a little boy was hit by a car on 9th St. in the west end of Chester. At the time of the accident, Crozer- Chester Medical Center (CCMC) Emergency Room nurse Angel Estep, RN, BSN, was on her way home after a grueling 12-hour shift. But Estep stopped to help the child.

I t’s over. Lawyers for the owners of the beleaguered Crozer Health System officially threw in the towel in a Tuesday afternoon hearing before Dallas Bankruptcy Court Chief Judge Stacey G.C. About two hours before the Texas hearing started, over 100 caregivers, their families, and elected officials rallied in front of the Crozer Chester Medical Center (CCMC) and spoke with outrage, grief, and some still had a bit of hope.

Council overrode mayor’s veto to okay major tax hike in Collingdale
Collingdale Borough Council voted to overturn Mayor Donna Matteo-Spadea’s veto of the 2025 budget at a special public meeting on Jan. 21, ensuring that residents will face a 30 percent tax increase for the new year. That news came after County Council announced it would raise taxes by nearly 24 percent to cover necessary expenditures.

West Philadelphia boxer Rasheen “Suga Sheen” Brown defeated the most serious opponent of his young career, Jose Antonio “The Wolf” Lopez, on a recent Friday night during the “Let’s Settle: Volume 2” fight at Temple’s Liacouras Center. But the night turned strange after his win, as the Pennsylvania Athletic Commission shut down the event halfway through. Nobody knew why, but it appeared the promoters had not paid the commissioner.
