    Fast growing forecourt operator Muresh Seevaratnam has acquired Churn Valley Service Station, his 12th site, and his third purchased this year. His latest acquisition, a Gulf forecourt with an unbranded shop, is at Colesbourne in the Cotswolds. It was previously owned by the Elwes family who have thousands of acres of land in the area as part of their Colesbourne Estate. Amelia Elwes, who has run the forecourt for 20 years, wants to retire.

    Frozen ready-meals brand Praveen Kumar is rolling out a takeaway Indian food concept that helps forecourts make use of their bake-off areas after the typical 2pm lull. The Perth-based company already offers its branded freezer cabinets at around 100 fuel sites. Now its eponymous founder hopes a similar number of locations will adopt his latest takeaway counter and delivery offer, which includes main dishes, starters and sides, by the end of next year.

    Ely Service Station on the A10 in Cambridgeshire, and Harvest Energy’s Bury Hill forecourt in Warley, West Midlands, have recently fitted tall hose diesel dispensers on their HGV lanes – recognising the equipment’s potential for reduced maintenance and a longer-life. Because the hoses are fitted to a mast, rather than curled around a holster, they are held off the ground, avoiding damage from kinks, wear and contamination from the floor.

    Family forecourt operators the Frasers believe that they have created the optimum retailing model combining valeting, foodservice and convenience, but, significantly, not EV charging. Cousins Nick and Jonathan Fraser are reaping the rewards of a £250,000 store revamp last autumn at their flagship Brize Norton petrol filling station in Oxfordshire. The now 2,800sq ft Fraser’s Budgens outlet was refitted to include seating in its relocated Subway, and a 43sq ft beer cave.

    Source: Park Garage Group Park Garage Group has ambitious plans for its fledgling Bakery 79 food to go alternative to Greggs, with a loyalty app and Deliveroo deliveries in the pipeline. The 80 site forecourt business hopes to increase the number of its forecourts taking the concept from 12 to 20 by the end of the year. Next year it also plans to franchise out the seventies-inspired brown and orange brand to other petrol retailers.
