Developer Hillstone has submitted two planning applications, which would see three blocks created on the site, which has been cleared of structures. The trio of three-bed houses would be built on the north-west of the site, while a mix of one and two-bed flats would be built in two blocks on the south west and east of the site.

    Two tower blocks could be built on the former CI Tyres site in La Charroterie, as plans for even more homes have been submitted. But the latest scheme would be lower than the previous proposal. Guernsey Housing Association chief executive Vic Slade said she thought this design was the right one for the site. ‘It was a bit “back to the drawing board”,’ she said, acknowledging that the previously approved scheme for a 10-storey tower block of 57 flats from 2024 had provoked a strong push back.

    Guernsey Post is on its way back to the Arcade, after more than 20 years away. Number 7, Commercial Arcade has stood empty since the Co-op moved its pharmacy in February. The pharmacy, which was moving inside the Market Buildings to the site of former post office counter, had been based on the corner of the Arcade for more than decade.

    Guernsey Clematis Nursery could become nearly self-sufficient for electricity, under plans to expand its solar power arrays. There is already an existing roof-mounted array on the Braye Vineries site in Route Militaire. But now an application has been submitted to install arrays on a small area of ground to the north-east side of the site. Guernsey Clematis general manager Paul Ingrouille said the roof panels were installed in July 2023 and fitted well with how the business operates.
