The derelict site, which runs behind the shops on the Bridge, straddles the boundary between St Sampson’s and Vale. Both parishes have been keen to see the site rejuvenated and put back to good use.

Omnibus Investment Holdings Ltd has been working on plans for the Channel Islands Coop-owned site for several years, with the States Assembly agreeing to examine the potential of investing up to £35m. in the Bridge regeneration. But Policy & Resources has now slammed the brakes on investing in Leale’s Yard.

    Guernsey’s green waste site is gearing up for a busy Easter, and will be open every day over the bank holiday weekend. The site at Mont Cuet has just marked a year at its current location. The move last April came with changed opening times, so this will be the second time the site has been open over the full Easter period.

    Moving education staff into the Sixth Form Centre aims to make best use of States property, a joint statement from States Property Unit and the Education Office has said. The bodies were expanding on the Guernsey Press story, which revealed that while sixth formers are being moved to the former La Mare de Carteret High School site – which needs work – education staff will get the custom-built sixth form building at Les Varendes.

    Tetra packs, original dairy plans and cheese-making equipment are among the items on display at the newly opened Milk Tales exhibition. It was opened at a packed Candie Museum on Friday evening. It details the complete history of Guernsey’s dairy industry, from the home industry, to the founding of two dairies, to the single States dairy, which was built at the Hangman’s crossroads in 1951 – the site it still inhabits today.
