The US Army has received two T901 engines from General Electric (GE) Aerospace for integration and testing aboard the force’s UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. The engines were delivered to Sikorsky’s facility in West Palm Beach, Florida, as part of the country’s Improved Turbine Engine Program, an initiative to develop a more durable, fuel-efficient engine for the army’s Black Hawk and Apache aircraft.

BAE Systems has signed a contract for 42 million euros ($45 million) to produce the BvS10 vehicle for Europe’s Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV-3N) program. The deal between BAE and the Czech Republic’s Tatra Defense Vehicle covers 250 BvS10s, with an option for an additional 274. Parts such as front and rear carriages, which vary according to the vehicles’ mission configurations, will be included in the production.

Viasat has announced that it will integrate its GAT-5530 broadband terminal into the Spanish Army’s Airbus C295 fleet. The company will collaborate with Airbus to provide a highly-flexible, multi-band and -orbit satellite broadband communication capability to support the army’s missions. All of the C295s will use the terminal for expanded command and control and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions.

Naval Group has handed over the second Gowind-class multi-mission corvette to the UAE Navy in Lorient, western France. The ship, Al Emarat, will house its crew in France in July as Naval Group provides training to ensure the proper integration of the corvette into the force. It is expected to arrive in Abu Dhabi by August. The Al Emarat is scheduled to take on a variety of sea missions, including littoral, unmanned vehicle deployment, and anti-submarine warfare drills.

Germany’s federal parliament budget committee has greenlit plans to buy MBDA Brimstone 3 missiles for its Eurofighter planes. The framework deal lists an order of up to 3,266 missile units, with the first tranche consisting of 378 missiles totalling up to 376 million euros ($402 million). About 274 units will be reserved for operational use, while 29 will be used for testing with the remaining 75 saved for training purposes.
