    JOHN DAY — The city of John Day is in the process of entering into an intergovernmental agreement with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office for increased police presence around town. The city will pay the sheriff’s office $100,000 per year for policing services, which will include some things the agency already does and add new duties. Deputies still will be responsible for monitoring speeding and other traffic violations in addition to responding to emergency calls.
