NAMPA - Kimberly's path to a third straight state softball championship just got a lot tougher. Though the Bulldogs showed more fight than their previous matchup with Cole Valley Christian, the No. 2 Chargers bested Kimberly 8-5 to move one win away from the 4A state championship at Skyview Park in Nampa on Friday night. The top-seeded Bulldogs (26-3) will face No. 3 Weiser at 9 a.m. Friday and the winner must beat Cole Valley (25-4) twice to win the state championship.

NAMPA - Late inning rallies helped Gooding softball keep its season alive and then end its season one game later. The No. 4 seed Senators walked off No. 8 Marsh Valley to stay alive in the 4A state tournament before No. 3 Weiser's sixth inning rally sent them packing in a 4-2 loss at Skyview Park in Nampa. "They happened to be right in the lineup where they needed to be," Gooding head coach Savannah Erickson told the Times-News. "And that's just how the game works sometimes.
