    The Ellsworth Community College baseball team entered the Region XI Tournament with 31 regular season wins and a realistic chance of competing for the championship versus the other contenders in the conference. Head coach Kirk Clark had his pitching staff organized to run the team's top two starters - Brock Adamson and Jordan Dahlof - for the first two contests of the double elimination tournament. But in the span of roughly 12 hours, the Panthers' season came to an abrupt end.

    Thursday's deep and talented Webster City Boys Invitational gave the Iowa Falls-Alden boys another chance to prep for postseason play against some of the top programs in the state of Iowa. Multiple squads in the field have recently qualified for state tournament play in the recent past, and are favored to punch their ticket again this spring. While the Cadets were not able to hang with the team leaders through 18 holes, one individual was right there contending for the top spot.

    A 48 card turned in by Olivia Scholte earned her runner-up medalist at Thursday's non-conference meet in Saint Ansgar. Coming off an NCC Meet that saw the Iowa Falls-Alden girls tie their season team low score with a 214 on Tuesday, the Cadets followed that with a 216 to win the triangular over Saint Ansgar and Northwood-Kensett. SA finished five strokes back with a 221, while N-K tallied a 244. The meet medalist was Saint Ansgar's Maci Mayer, who carded a 45 to top Scholte by three strokes.

    Thursday's North Central Conference girls meet was expected to be a two-team race at the top with deep and talented teams from Clear Lake and Algona squaring off for league supremacy. That's exactly what transpired, as the Lions left Iowa Falls with their fourth consecutive conference title, amassing 194 points to easily outdistance the Bulldogs' tally of 153. Those two squads were the only ones in the field to eclipse 100, as third-place Humboldt finished with 74 points.

    The Iowa Falls-Alden boys wrapped up the 2025 North Central Conference Championships with an upper division finish and a pair of school records. Algona and Clear Lake were the class of the field, with the Bulldogs outgaining the Lions by 14 points to win the title, 184-170. Humboldt was third with 110 points, and the Cadets were fourth with 91. The highlights were turned in by a pair of relay foursomes, as new school benchmarks were set by the sprint medley and 4x200.
