Head coach Kirk Clark had his pitching staff organized to run the team's top two starters - Brock Adamson and Jordan Dahlof - for the first two contests of the double elimination tournament. But in the span of roughly 12 hours, the Panthers' season came to an abrupt end.

Thursday's deep and talented Webster City Boys Invitational gave the Iowa Falls-Alden boys another chance to prep for postseason play against some of the top programs in the state of Iowa. Multiple squads in the field have recently qualified for state tournament play in the recent past, and are favored to punch their ticket again this spring. While the Cadets were not able to hang with the team leaders through 18 holes, one individual was right there contending for the top spot.

Points were at a premium at the NICL meet in Jesup. The 16-team field is always tough when it comes to girls track and this year was no different. Grundy Center ran away with the team title behind seven golds and 96 points. Aplington-Parkersburg was second (77.5) followed by Jesup (74). South Hardin earned four medals and took seventh with 48 points. Finishing in the top five for the Tigers was six events with one champion.

In a stacked North Iowa Cedar League field, Denver was top echelon of teams to beat. The Cyclones earned golds in seven events and finished with 148 team points, outpacing second place Grundy Center by 17. They were 70 points better than third place Union (60). Out of 19 events, Denver did not make the podium in just eight. South Hardin finished eighth with 40.5 points. “Saw a lot of good things. We had some ups and downs, but overall it was very successful,” said Tiger coach Jared Kadolph.
