Brad Penner-Imagn Images I don’t think my words can do this moment justice. Pistons playoff basketball is back, and unlike the last couple of times this happened in Detroit over the last 17 years, this game actually means something and actually has a chance in resulting in a win (sorry to the 2018-2019 and 2014-2015 teams). After ending their 17 year winless playoff drought, the Pistons now control the series as it heads back to Detroit.

Lon Horwedel-Imagn Images It is time to play for all the marbles as we close out the 2024-2025 regular season with two games against the Milwaukee Bucks. I am not sure how much being the 5th seed matters to either of these teams, but both teams are expected to have pretty much their full rotation available, so I guess that tells you this at least matters a little bit to both of these teams.

Rick Osentoski-Imagn Images The Pistons magic number for clinching a spot in the Playoffs and avoiding the Play-In is now down to 1. That is the good news. The bad news is that they face the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road on National TV and they will be without 3 players for sure due to suspensions from Sunday’s brawl against the Timberwolves. Those three players are Isaiah Stewart, Marcus Sasser, and Ron Holland. They are also likely without Cade Cunnningham, who is listed as doubtful.

Scott Wachter-Imagn Images Many teams in the NBA are “banged up” at this time of the year. Some teams have legit injuries while others have “injuries” to allow them rest days for players as we close out the season. In the case of the San Antonio Spurs, it is the former as they are without Victor Wembanyama for the remainder of the season along with De’Aaron Fox.

Rick Osentoski-Imagn Images The Pistons entered this road trip with losses to the Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder. They needed to re-engage and string together some wins against inferior opponents before a very tough April schedule. So far, the Pistons have done that and now have a chance to go for the road trip sweep against the likely-cursed, Dallas Mavericks.
