Gabby McLaughlin has taken her final bow. It didn’t go the way she wanted it to, but she closed an excellent collegiate gymnastics career Thursday on the grandest stage at the NCAA Championships, competing as an individual qualifier on beam. She came off the beam on an aerial in the middle of her routine. She landed her other skills well but finished with a 9.1750. McLaughlin has been a five-year starter for Auburn.

Chase Sexton claims his fourth win of the season. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Chase Sexton earned a pivotal victory at Round 13 of the 2025 AMA Supercross Championship in Philadelphia, gaining valuable points toward his 450SX title prospects with just four rounds remaining. Sexton recorded the fastest qualifying time via a scorching final lap onboard his KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition, before charging to a convincing Heat Race win to open his race day.

Auburn City Schools introduced James Slaton as its new athletic director on Wednesday. Touting 30-plus years of experience in education, Slaton comes to ACS from Sarasota, Fla., where he served as an athletic director for the county’s schools and managed a budget over $1 million. Slaton takes over the position previously held by Dan Norton. Slaton comes to ACS during a pivotal time as the school system inches closer to its opening of Plains High School in 2028.

Cooper Webb grabbed third on the night giving him even more momentum in the championship. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb once again showed grit and determination, overcoming adversity in the mud to finish third at Foxborough Supercross. His ninth podium finish of the season further expanded his Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450SX Championship lead, giving him a 15-point advantage. Cooper Webb did not give up and his determination showed.

Shining overseas, former Auburn star Jared Harper earned another award for his trophy case on Tuesday. Harper has been named the Most Valuable Player for the 2024-25 EuroCup season, after averaging a league-best 22.8 points per game during the season for his team Hapoel Jerusalem. He signed with the club just last summer and he’s teammates on the squad with his former Auburn teammate Austin Wiley. Harper’s scoring average in EuroCup was the league’s best since 2007.
