Minister for Housing James Browne has said the financial market for building apartments in Dublin is broken and the tax regime needs to be examined to stimulate development. Mr Browne said nobody wants to build apartments in Dublin at the moment and radical action needs to be taken. Speaking on RTÉ’s This Week, he said there would be a "political price to pay" if the Government fails to deliver housing. The Minister for Finance has said between 50,000 and 80,000 jobs in Ireland could be at risk if US trade tariffs are introduced in early April. He also indicated that income tax cuts proposed in the programme for the government may not go ahead if severe tariffs are introduced. Speaking on RTÉ's This Week programme, Paschal Donohoe said a global trade dispute will impact on people’s living standards, and the Government may have to make decisions to protect the public finances.

Independent TD Michael Lowry has asked for permission to address the Dáil to respond to allegations made about him by Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty. Mr Lowry told RTÉ's This Week that he delivered a letter to the Ceann Comhairle’s office, formally requesting an early opportunity to make a personal statement on the floor of the Dáil to address what he described as a "smear" against him.
