    AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV) - After already taking down a gold medal hours prior, Lucas Cano of Gilmer became state champion again Thursday - this time for the 4A Boys’ Discus Throw competition. Cano recorded a distance of 194 feet and 2 inches during the event. He also won the 4A Boys’ Shot Put competition with a score of 60 feet and 2.25 inches. But he wasn’t the only East Texas who showed out, with Demetrius Dean of Jasper taking home the silver medal and McCager Smith of Athens winning the bronze.

    AUSTIN, Texas (KTRE) - Roscan Hadnot, from Jasper, became a state champion Thursday after winning the UIL 4A Girls’ High Jump competition in Austin. Hadnot finished with a score of 5 feet and 9 inches. Hadnot finished with a score of 5 feet and 9 inches. In the midst of her victory, she dedicated all her hard work to Ayden Burk, a former coach who was struck and killed by a stray bullet last year while in town for a high school coaching convention.
