Team Hebert wins Junior National Curling title

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - After twice bringing home silver at the U21 Junior Curling Nationals, Team Hebert struck gold on Sunday as they dominated their way to the championship win. Team Hebert, made up of the Eau Claire Curling Clubs Caden Hebert, Jack Wendlant, Jackson Bestland and Benji Paral, went undefeated during the week on their way to the title. They defeated Team Lannoye 8-5 to win the championship. The win comes after Team Hebert finished second in the event last year and in 2023.
UW-River Falls wins back-to-back Division 3 Women’s Hockey titles

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) - UW-River Falls scored three goals in the second period, as they defeated Amherst 3-1 to capture their second consecutive NCAA Division 3 Women’s Hockey championship. After a scoreless first period, MaKenna Aure opened the scoring for the Falcons :40 seconds into the second. River Falls would strike again, when Madison Kadrlik found the back of the net.
Huntington hits 600 wins as Blugolds sweep Wildcats

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball team swept a doubleheader against St. Catherine University 8-1 and 5-1 on Saturday at the Sonnentag Fieldhouse. The two wins pushed Blugolds Head Coach Leslie Huntington to 600 victories in her coaching career. Huntington, in her 24th season leading the Blugolds, became the second coach in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) history to reach 600 career wins.
UW-River Falls to defend D3 Women’s Hockey title

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) - UW-River Falls will defend their NCAA Division 3 title on Sunday, after the Falcons defeated Augsburg 4-2 in the semifinals. River Falls trailed 2-1 in the second period, but would score the next three goals, including two in the third period, to punch their ticket to the title game. The Falcons will face Amherst in the championship game in River Falls on Sunday at 4pm.

Cochrane-Fountain City defeats Turtle Lake in Division 5 state semifinal

MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) - Cochrane-Fountain City punched their ticket to Division 5 boys basketball championship game, defeating fellow western Wisconsin foe Turtle Lake 66-54. The Pirates set a Division 5 record with 17 steals. Cameron Lipinski lead C-FC with 24-points. Cochrane-Fountain City will be making their first appearance in the title game. Their only other tournament appearance was in 2014.
Stout’s run ends in the Final Four against NYU

SALEM, VA. (WEAU) - UW-Stout’s most successful women’s basketball season came to an end in the Final Four, as the Blue Devils fell to NYU 74-55. Raegan Sorenson left it all on the floor in her final game of the season, leading the Blue Devils with 29-points on 14 of 26 shooting. Amanda Giesen added 11-points. NYU opened up their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Stout 19-7 in the period to lead 41-20 at the half. The Violets were led in scoring by Belle Pellecchia who had 22-points.
