The East Ridge Police Department released the identities of the two people who died in the multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 on Sunday. Lane Smith, 23, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, and David Huggins, 61, of Dawsonville, Georgia, did not survive the crash that also put three people in critical condition, said East Ridge Police Chief Clint Uselton. Antoinier Joseph, from South Florida, was driving a tractor-trailer that caused the crash, Uselton said.

Three people died and two were transported to hospitals after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 Tuesday morning. Three tractor-trailers and three passenger vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred between Calhoun and Adairsville in Georgia, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 resulted in two deaths and put three people in the hospital in critical condition, according to East Ridge Police Chief Clint Uselton. Uselton said Joseph Antoinier was arrested in connection to the crash. Antoinier, 65, has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide, seven counts of felony reckless endangerment and three counts of reckless aggravated assault, according to Hamilton County booking reports.

Gov. Bill Lee has appointed Jennifer K. Peck to fill a judicial vacancy in Hamilton County Circuit Court. Peck will replace Judge Michael Dumitru, who left the 11th Judicial District Circuit Court division two seat open after he became a U.S. magistrate judge in Chattanooga's federal court earlier this year. Peck was one of five candidates considered by the Trial Court Vacancy Commission in March, and one of three that the commission ultimately put in front of the governor.
