NEW MILFORD - Motorists in the New Milford area can expect new detours this spring as the town begins work on major projects to replace two bridges in poor condition. The construction work to fully replace the "structurally deficient" Van Car Road bridge is underway, while the work to replace the Sand Road bridge is expected to start in mid-June, according to officials from New Milford's Public Works Department.

NEW MILFORD - A longer than 1-mile section of Merryall Road will be reevaluated and rehabilitated with support from a $1 million grant from the state's Small Town Economic Assistance Program. "The town put forth an application for a roadway rehabilitation project that encompasses Merryall Road from the section of Wellsville Road to West Meetinghouse Road," said Chuck Ballard, road designs engineer for New Milford's Public Works Department.
