Gallaudet’s Office of Institutional Advancement (IA) is pleased to share that the University recently surpassed a fundraising record that was held for 33 years. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2024, from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024, Gallaudet raised $14.4 million in new gifts and pledges, besting the all-time high fundraising record of $13.2 million set in 1991 when the W. K. Kellogg Foundation made a $12 million gift to build the Kellogg Conference Hotel.

The 20th anniversary of the annual Sutcliffe Business Bowl held at Gallaudet on April 11, 2024 was a family affair for the benefactor behind the event. Dr. Ronald E. Sutcliffe, ’59, former dean of Gallaudet’s School of Management, attended the event with all five of his children – Glen, Jane, Herb, Bert, and Dale. The matriarch of the family, Agnes Dunn Sutcliffe, ’59, passed away in 2020 at age 86.

Evon J. Black, ’87 & G-’96, associate director of Gallaudet University’s Center for Black Deaf Studies, will give a presentation entitled, “Unveiling Untold Black Deaf Stories” at the NAD 57th Biennial Conference in Chicago. Her presentation will elevate awareness of Mrs. Louise B. Miller, an overlooked hero of educational and racial justice in America. This largely untold story is of the power of a mother’s love and how Mrs.

Gallaudet University’s Office of Institutional Advancement held two events in May 2024 to spread awareness about the Necessity of Now (NOW) fundraising campaign. Gallaudet’s annual President’s Circle Commencement Celebration held on May 9 at Ole Jim was an opportunity for President Roberta J. Cordano, Institutional Advancement Executive Director Nicholas Kiego, ’09, and IA staff to celebrate the donors who gave $1,000 or more to the University this year and to share more details about NOW.
