    Gallaudet’s Office of Institutional Advancement (IA) is pleased to share that the University recently surpassed a fundraising record that was held for 33 years. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2024, from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024, Gallaudet raised $14.4 million in new gifts and pledges, besting the all-time high fundraising record of $13.2 million set in 1991 when the W. K. Kellogg Foundation made a $12 million gift to build the Kellogg Conference Hotel.

    Internationally acclaimed Deaf artist Christine Sun Kim graced Gallaudet University with her presence on September 12. She gave an electrifying presentation titled “Repeat After Me: Claiming a Deaf Public Voice,” as part of the Deaf Studies program 30-year anniversary event bonanza. This event was open to the public, and was hosted at Foster Auditorium. During the hour-long presentation, Kim detailed her creative process and current and past art exhibits.

    Eight-time All-American sprinter Eric Gregory became the first Gallaudet University student-athlete ever to compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in any sport on June 21 at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Track and Field at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. Gregory ran in the second heat of the men’s 400-meter dash and finished seventh with a time of 45.79 seconds.

    The Motion Light Lab (ML2) is collaborating with the Smithsonian American Art Museum, supporting accessibility for the Musical Thinking exhibition that opened June 23 and that will run through January 29, 2024. The exhibit has haptics such as a vibrating dance floor/couches, captions, and American Sign Language videos. This exhibition is believed to be the first of its kind. ML2 is looking for interested students and staff to lead ASL tours. For more information, email [email protected].
