Bitter cold gripping much of the country led to a record cold Presidential Inauguration, which was held indoors. WASHINGTON — As President Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, unusually cold temperatures gripped the nation's capital. The temperature at noon, the time that the mandates that the term of a president must begin, was just 27 degrees. This is now in the history books as the fourth coldest Inauguration Day on record.

DALLAS - The Toronto Blue Jays are hoping to have snagged a potential swing-and-miss arm for their bullpen in a cost-effective way. Missing out is familiar territory for the Blue Jays, who were in a similar position a year ago when they aggressively pursued Shohei Ohtani only for him to ultimately sign a 10-year, $700 million pact with the Los Angeles Dodgers. New York was long believed to be the preferred landing spot for Soto, although he surprised some by borough-hopping from the Bronx to Queens. Soto coming north always felt like a long shot, however.
