A Newcastle woman became an unexpected hero when she saved the life of a pensioner. Angie Wylam was enjoying a cup of coffee at the Kitchen cafe in Cramlington when she saw a woman suddenly take unwell. The woman, who was in her 80s, appeared to be suffering a seizure and Angie quickly jumped in to help. Jemma Jackson, 40, works for Christians Against Poverty and helps families in the Houghton-le-Spring area. A mother and son have opened a new animal and pet crematorium in Northumberland. Jane 'Yorkie' Jobling-Purser and George Renwick, 30, have opened the crematorium at Longwitton, near Morpeth. Renwick Animal and Pet Crematorium specialises in the cremation of large animals, including equines. Jane, 60, said: "We opened this week and are an equine animal and pet crematorium. It is on our family farm and we are going to be equine specialists because we have owned and worked with horses all our lives.

These criminals have appeared before the courts after committing crimes in Newcastle city centre. A prolific thief stole thief stole more than £500-worth of sweets, coffee and booze from shops in the city, while a another brazen shoplifter who drinks up to "12 bottles of wine" a day targeted a small business in order to steal booze. In another incident a serial crook showed his contempt for the justice system after stealing from a store just five days after being sentenced for numerous thefts.
