    Richard E. “Dick” Zubrod, 87, of Elkhorn, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He was born on Nov. 23, 1937, to the late Albert F. and Jeanette A. (nee Young) Zubrod. Richard proudly served in the United States Army National Guard, 126 Field Artillery Battalion, 32nd Infantry Division. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic throughout his life, retiring from Racine County. He served in the Burlington Fire Department for 38 years, retiring as assistant chief.

    Ellen Johnston, 72, died Friday, May 16, 2025 at home in Wind Lake. She was born in Racine on June 4, 1952, the daughter of the late Robert and Agnes (Zauner) Johnston. Ellen graduated from St Catherine’s High School in 1970. Ellen attended college at UW-Milwaukee where she studied Education and American Sign Language. During college she met Jim Gronowski with whom she had two children, Eli and Kelsey.

    Peter M. Leach, 71, of Kansasville, passed away on May 19, 2025, at his home. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held on May 30, 2025, at Integrity Celebration Center, 2789 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. until the time of an open mic service at 2:30 p.m. Following the service, Peter will be laid to rest at 3:30 p.m. at Rosewood Cemetery, located on Durand Avenue in Dover. Services have been entrusted to Integrity Funeral Services.

    Lucille “Lulu” Kietzer, 104, took the hand of Jesus and went with him to her heavenly home on May 10, 2025. Lulu was born in Chicago on April 28, 1921. She married Guy Magliano on April 24, 1948. Guy died in 1951. Lulu married Edmund Kietzer on May 21, 1967. After marriage, they lived in Elmhurst, Illinois, before moving to Lily Lake. Ed died in 2012.

    John Edward Wambach passed away on May 12, 2025, after a brave and inspiring battle with ALS. He was at home, surrounded by the people who he loved most. In true John fashion, he wrote a lot of this obituary himself—his way of getting in one last word and sending a final hug to everyone he held close. John was born on Feb. 20, 1969, to Ron and Irene Wambach. He loved his big, lively family with all his heart.
