MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A McDowell County inmate is facing additional charges after being accused of assaulting at least two detention officer. According to the McDowell County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the county Detention Center on June 7, 2024 for a report of an assault on an officer by an inmate. Officials say 20-year-old Brittney Marie Hannum is accused of refusing to comply with commands while being booked into jail, then biting one officer and kicking another one.
