A detention hearing for a Mason man accused of making explosive devices was continued until next week. James Phillips, 20, is charged federally with possession of a destructive device. He briefly appeared in federal court Friday afternoon. Family members and other supporters sat in the gallery. The family has retained high-profile defense attorney Scott Croswell. Since he couldn't be at Friday's hearing, it was continued until Tuesday.

It all comes after an investigation led to a raid at a home in Mason Thursday morning. 20-year-old James Phillips was arrested by the FBI Cincinnati Field Office's Joint Terrorism Task Force after a search warrant was executed at a home near Sentinel Oak Drive and Sycamore View Drive in Mason.

A Cincinnati teenager with a history of arrests is now accused of aggravated murder. The 15-year-old is accused of shooting 25-year-old Kyle Mirick on Short Vine Saturday night. WLWT requested his Hamilton County Juvenile Court file and learned he had his first run-in with the law at age 13. He was charged with theft and obstructing official business in June of 2023 and later adjudicated -- which means found responsible -- of attempted grand theft the following year.

Linda Condon spent Friday afternoon restocking the shelves at CJ's Liquor after moving the bottles to higher ground. "You could look out that door, and it was; it seemed to be at least a quarter of the way, maybe a third of the way up the door. It was crazy," Condon said. Water didn't come rushing in through the doors, it bubbled up from beneath the store. "It came up through the floor, little cracks, like fountains," Condon said.
