Djo is at his best when it sounds like he is unraveling. The Crux is Joe Keery pushing his psychedelic pop-rock-Ish persona further, stripping back from the glossy DECIDE and leaning into something warmer, raw, and oddly timeless. Even though The Crux sees and hears a shift in sound, Djo’s signature remains, with lush synths, layered vocals, and a somewhat existential dread wrapped around reflective lyrics and infectious hooks.
