Over the past decade, the Punk Scene seems to have lost its edge. This shift may have started when mainstream media began labeling certain high-pitched, corporate-produced bands as "punk." As these bands gained popularity, some iconic punk labels from the vibrant 90s chose to embrace this more commercial sound, chasing after profits. Almost overnight, a genre that once thrived on feelings of desperation, anger, and nonconformity transformed into something more lighthearted, whiny, and focused on catchy melodies. Meanwhile, the original bands that shaped the Punk Scene of the 90s started to stagnate, as their newfound success dulled the very discontent that had once fueled their music. However, that sense of angst still exists. DyingScene.com was established to spotlight the bands that keep that inner fire alive. The site aims to revitalize the current state of authentic Punk Rock and breathe life into what feels like a DYING SCENE.

After 5 long and rainy days, Wednesday June 11th was the first day of sun in a while. It was 86 degrees and gorgeous outside, a fitting experience to see one of the most bright and vivid albums of the last decade. Emos and fans of the alt-punk genre were anxious to see what is considered to be, a contender for show of the year. The Maine played an underplay concert at House of Independents in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

When they hit the scene back in 2019 with their debut EP What’s Mine Is Yours, it was clear that Arm’s Length weren’t just “another emo band.” And when they released their debut album, Never Before Seen, Never Again Found, an album that was a portrait of emotional overload and growing pains from the band’s progression from teens to young adults it quickly became clear that through their strong and raw songwriting, we were dealing with a very reflective band.

The rock music community has had many incredible frontmen from Freddy Mercury to David Bowie, and so much more. However, most mainstream rock outlets don’t highlight certain artists in the punk or emo specific scenes that have also paved their way. This list is meant to promote some of the best vocalists that don’t always get the credit they deserve. These are all musicians who utilize their voice as an instrument on its own. They are quite frankly, the best to ever do it.

The Used have decided to celebrate their 25th anniversary as a band in the most creative way possible. Rating than doing a single “career defining set” the band have announced a full tour in which they play three nights per city. The kicker? Each night is a different album play. Night 1 being their genre defining classic, Self Titled. Night 2 is their fan favorite, In Love and Death. And night 3 is their experimental yet just as seminal record, Lies for Liars.

The live concert industry is always changing and evolving. With constant and exciting tours or festival announcements, we figured it best to countdown some of the best live artists we’ve seen in our lifetime. To qualify for this, I’m looking strictly at performance. I am removing all lights and technical aspects of a live show. These artists are just as good at Madison Square Garden as they would be at the Meatlocker in Montclair NJ.
