Changes are ongoing for what is now known as the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. Back in March of 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom announced changes to the prison into a rehabilitation facility. One subject involved is how much would be spent from the general fund. As of right now, $225 million would be given to the Governor's Office of Planning And Research. FRESNO, Calif (FOX26) — A recent new law is still dealing with some backlash. Back on September 23rd, 2024 the city of Fresno officially enacted the anti-encampment ordinance. This prohibits encampments in public anywhere anytime. If this isn't followed, a person can be punished for a misdemeanor with up to a year in jail $1,000 fine, or both. City leaders held a press conference the day of the enforcement to explain the importance of this for the city and for those who need help to get it.
