If you want to fill a layer with the Foreground color, press Option-Delete (PC: Alt-Backspace). If you want to fill with the Background color, press Command-Delete (PC: Ctrl-Backspace). Now, what if you have some transparency on the layer, and you only want to fill the areas with pixels but not the transparent areas. The trick is to hold down the Shift key with the previous shortcuts to protect the transparency.

Sometimes you may want to put text or a logo behind a foreground element in a photograph to add some dimension to the image. Here’s the fast way: Go to Select>Subject from the top menu, which will make a selection around the object in the photo. Press Command-J (PC: Ctrl-J) to copy the selected area to a new layer. Now, in the Layers panel, grab your text or logo layer and drag it so it’s between the background and the copied subject layer.

Review by Erik VlietinckSerif just recently upgraded their Affinity bundle to version 2.2 and, as far as I can tell, Affinity apps are currently the only ones to support OpenColorIO v2. That’s great news for VFX, film, and 3D artists whose config files (including the more advanced features available in OpenColorIO v2), can now be used. OpenColorIO (OCIO) is a complete color-management solution geared toward motion -picture production, with an emphasis on visual effects and computer animation.
