    The Tigers needed that spirit in the final against Coalinga. In the top of the first inning, Coalinga sophomore Chloe Sandoval opened the contest with a double to left field. Moments later, she scored on a groundout to give the Horned Toads the early lead and momentum. But senior pitcher Audrina Rodriguez and the Woodlake defense held it down the rest of the night as the Horned Toads could not muster up another run.

    CLOVIS – This past Saturday, May 24, high school track and field programs from across the Central Valley gathered at Buchanan High School to compete in the CIF Central Section Masters Championships. Against the best of the best in the Valley, several local athletes performed well to make their schools proud. For Immanuel High School, Alexandra Schartmann took second in the 400-meter sprint with a time of 55.61 seconds. She also finished fourth in the 200 with a time of 24.64 seconds.

    KINGSBURG – Over the past three seasons, Kingsburg baseball has emerged as one of the powerhouse baseball programs in the Central Valley. In 2023 and 2024, the Vikings reached the mountaintop with two straight Division III Central Section Championships. The Vikings lost many impactful seniors from those teams, but have continued to sail high this spring as they have gone on a run to the Division II Central Section Semifinal.

    The Spartans end their season with an overall record of 17-9. After finishing second in the East Sequoia-Sequoia League in the regular season, the Spartans started strong in the playoffs with a 19-0 win over No. 14 seed Alpaugh and a 5-2 victory over No. 6 seed Corcoran. But when they faced the Rough Riders, the Spartans made too many mistakes. In the top of the first inning, a Strathmore error allowed Roosevelt senior Lenna Garcia to score to give the Rough Riders the early lead.
