Maneet Chauhan cannot imagine a world that isn't illuminated by the golden glow of turmeric from morning to night. Growing up in India, the restaurateur, author, and Food Network star reveled in the spice — a rhizome related to the ginger plant — from breakfast onward, enjoying it in omelets, masala, and much more, and she'll be telling audiences all about it at this year's Food & Wine Classic in Aspen during a seminar called Go for the Gold: The Magic of Cooking with Turmeric.

Credit: Food & Wine / Apple / Getty Images Every once in a while as I'm boarding a flight, wandering an unfamiliar city, or trying to figure out if a bottle of single malt is the bargain of a lifetime or costs more than my student loan, I think back to how I handled such matters in the time before smartphones.

I was an election worker some years back. That is a loooooooong day, and people are nervous and not always at their best. Please be patient with the folks working the polls and if you have the wherewithal, say something nice to them. It's not for the faint of heart.

Here's (one tiny part of) the thing: Just a day or two after my mother died of Covid in a South Carolina nursing home, I saw Trump on TV making fun of masks and saying that Covid affects "almost no one." It was cruelty he savored. I will never forgive him. https://t.co/WHlwpHfuUp

It's been a billion years since I posted an Unclench O'Clock, but it seemed necessary today. Lower your shoulders; stop chewing, clawing, or ripping at your own body; and take a moment to breathe. Taking the stress out on your physical self doesn't help anything, especially you.

It's unclench o'clock. Stop whatever anxious physical thing you're doing to yourself and breathe / soften as best you can.
