    Downtown Singapore saw storm clouds gather for day one of the 2025 Philanthropy Asia Summit (PAS). Energy fitting, not for any turbulence in proceedings but for the feeling that something prescient and long-awaited was about to break.  Over the duration of the four-day conference, held at the illustrious Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, cheque-book philanthropy was duly pushed aside, and catalytic philanthropy rose to take its place.
