Care homes and dementia groups are being urged to make use of the reminiscence sessions available at a South Holland museum now that it is open for its summer season. The Museum of Technology: The History of Gadgets and Gizmos, in Throckenholt, re-opens to the public today (Thursday, May 29) and owners Trevor Cass and Rosemary Hourihane are encouraging care homes and dementia groups to make the most of the facilities it has to offer.

Was it just me, or did anyone else spend hours of their childhood poring over the latest edition of the Guinness Book of Records, marvelling at the amazing facts and feats recorded within its pages? Growing up in the 1980s and 1990s Record Breakers was staple viewing and never ceased to amaze me as it celebrated the weird, the wonderful and all the things that made people unique.

A charity which rescues, restores and transforms historic buildings into stunning holiday lets – including two unique Lincolnshire properties – is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Both The House of Correction, a former prison building, in Folkingham, and The Château, a scale model of a French chateau, in Gate Burton, near Gainsborough, have been preserved and given a new lease of life thanks to The Landmark Trust.

A popular South Holland museum is set to make its television debut today (Monday, March 17) when it features on BBC One programme Bargain Hunt. In an episode called Antiques Ahead of Their Time, host Caroline Hawley visits The Museum of Technology: The History of Gadgets and Gizmos, owned by Trevor Cass and Rosemary Hourihane, in Throckenholt, where she reveals some of the antiques bought on the show which were ahead of their time.

It may not be the kind of art she imagined doing when she was younger, but Chloe White says it is a dream come true to be creating pet portraits and landscapes for others to enjoy. The commissions began flooding in for the 26-year-old, who has always been passionate about drawing and painting, after she shared a portrait she had drawn of her fiancé’s red Staffordshire bull terrier on social media.
