On July 1, we said goodbye to the great Robert Towne, a legendary screenwriter and key figure in the New Hollywood era. Towne leaves behind an incredible filmography, including a few of what are considered to be the very finest screenplays ever written: SHAMPOO, THE LAST DETAIL, and of course CHINATOWN, which the WGA named as the third greatest screenplay of all-time in 2006.
