ESSEX TOWN — Founded in 1794 and 1868, Essex’s two cemeteries are final resting places that hold over 200 years of town history. This history is preserved under the care of the Essex Cemetery Commission. Made up of three to five members — currently with one opening — the Essex Cemetery Commission cares for the Mountain View Cemetery and the Essex Common Burial Ground, establishes fees, overseas income and determines the rules and regulations for the cemeteries.
