The Essex Reporter is a complimentary weekly newspaper focused on Essex, Vermont. Each Thursday, it distributes over 8,800 copies. In addition to Essex, the paper also features news from nearby Vermont towns and cities, including Jericho, Underhill, and Winooski, with a limited distribution in Williston. Angelo Lynn and Emerson Lynn are the owners and publishers of The Essex Reporter. They also own The Sun in Colchester, Vermont, along with several other newspapers in the region, either individually or with family members. The Essex Reporter is part of the Champlain Valley Newsgroup.

Open to the public, EWSD’s 2nd Annual Multicultural Festival, set for 5-8 p.m. May 2, will include food, interactive performances, educational activities and local vendors. ESSEX TOWN — The selectboard chose its newest member to serve as clerk this year at its meeting last Monday, April 7, during which the selectboard undertook its annual reorganization. Shannon Jackson, voted onto the board by residents on Town Meeting Day, was nominated for clerk by Ethan Lawrence and Andy Watts seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously, with Jackson’s status as clerk effective immediately.

BURLINGTON — Michelle Krasny of Essex Junction brought fiber arts group Essex Fiber Fans to Burlington craft store the Makery this weekend, as part of a nationwide 12-hour knit-a-thon. Proceeds from the knit-a-thon this past Saturday will benefit a number of organizations working to fight hunger across the country and world: Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry and Meals on Wheels — hence, the initiative’s name: Knit for Food.

ESSEX JUNCTION — Essex Junction’s Annual Meeting Day results are in, with a $12,419,241 budget passed alongside the passage of bond funding serving to retrofit three pump stations. In addition, Brian Shelden beat out Bethany Clark in the race for city council’s single open seat, by a margin of 141 votes — Shelden with 932, Clark with 791, 133 blank votes and 11 write-ins, according to the city’s preliminary results. He will serve one three-year term in the position.
