Two people are dead after a car crashed into a Lakeland home along Pirates Way on Monday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said. A suspect was arrested a little over a week after a deadly shooting in Sarasota, according to deputies. The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said Trae Ward, 33, was arrested on a homicide charge and was taken into custody. The backstory: The deadly shooting happened on May 1 in the 2500 block of Colson Avenue. Deputies said they found Reginald Graves, 45, with a gunshot wound to the chest. A Polk County man is behind bars after deputies said he neglected six horses, all of which were found severely malnourished on his property. One of the horses died. The backstory: Investigators with the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in arrest records that they responded to Carl Olinger's property along Olinger Farm Road on Tuesday to investigate a possible animal cruelty case. They said Olinger was the sole owner of the Lakeland property as well as six horses found in his pasture.
