STILLWATER, Okla. (KFOR) — A student farm at Oklahoma State University is digging deep to help their community grow. They have a goal to feed even more Oklahomans. If you blink, while driving into Stillwater on Hwy 51, you may miss it. “I would say it’s definitely a hidden gem,” said Rebekah Harmon, a senior. Since 2023, the OSU Student Farm has been growing acres of goodness. “Lettuce, onions, napa cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli,” said Shelby Mendoza, a student working at the farm.

LUTHER, Okla. (KFOR) – If you’re driving along Route 66 in Luther, you’ll see a new flashy sign. It was paid for with dollars from the Oklahoma Rt. 66 Project Grant, ahead of the “Mother Road’s” centennial next year. The new sign has two arrows. One points towards the Couch Pecan Orchard, which donated the land. The other points towards downtown Luther, where they’re hoping you’ll exit for a visit. “3… 2… 1…” Cheered the crowd as the new Visit Luther sign along Route 66 was turned on.

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The first homeowner to qualify for the “Strengthen Oklahoma Program” is having his new roof put on his home. “I’ve needed a roof for a little bit,” said Harvey Privett. Privett’s roof, in Southeast OKC, needed a makeover. “I had a lot of leaks,” said Privett. “From hail and wind.”Last month, he learned about the Oklahoma Insurance Department’s Strengthen Oklahoma Homes program.

The new superintendent said this policy is only temporary, but local fosters told News 4 the decision is short-sighted. This is the sign you will see on the front door at the animal shelter. The OKC Animal Welfare said they are at 114% capacity. It’s not sustainable. The new superintendent, Ronnie Schlabs, said a tough decision had to be made.

However, now they’re facing a new challenge, due to recent executive orders by President Donald Trump. “There is war in my country, it’s been [going on] many, many years,” said Sang Rem, the executive director of resettlement at the Spero Project. Rem was born in Burma. She turned her emotional refugee journey into a children’s book.
