Electronic legends N-Trance and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers helped kick-start the countdown to Christmas in Dunfermline on Sunday. The groups were among those who entertained crowds who gathered in the city centre for an afternoon of festive fun. Dozens of Santas delighted youngsters as they took part in the Rotary Club’s annual Santa Dash down the High Street. And several groups joined a community parade to the Glen Gates, where Provost Jim Leishman switched on the Christmas lights.

Hundreds gathered in Cooper Park for Elgin’s annual fireworks and bonfire night. Locals flocked to the event on Saturday to watch the display organised by Elgin Rotary. The night kicked off when the bonfire, made by the Out of the Darkness Theatre Group, was lit up in the centre of the park. This year’s Guy Fawkes was fashioned after the character Beetlejuice. Onlookers made sure to wrap up warm as they watched the fireworks shoot in an array of colours to the skies.

The annual Peterhead fireworks and bonfire night returned on Saturday. Organised by Buchanhaven Harbour Trust, the free event brought hundreds of locals to the harbour for the display. This was the first of two firework shows scheduled in Peterhead this month, with the second set for November 5. Locals wrapped up as they braved the chilly sea breeze to take in the evening’s events. Fireworks dazzled the skies above the harbour for around 20 minutes.

Students from D&A College have celebrated their graduations. A ceremony was held at the Caird Hall on Friday. Students who have successfully completed an advanced course at SCQF level 7 and above and have left college received their honours. After the ceremony, graduates took to City Square to celebrate their achievements with classmates, friends and lecturers. Our photographer Kim Cessford was on hand to bring you the best pictures from the college’s November graduations.
