LiveHouse is finally a feature of the Dundee city centre skyline after name of the future 4,500-capacity arena was added to the former Mecca Bingo Hall tower. The LiveHouse entertainment and conference venue is expected to open later this year on the Nethergate. It will become Scotland’s third-largest entertainment venue and will initially host crowds of up to 1,000. The Courier was given exclusive drone footage of the huge letters being added to the tower.

More than 300 members of Girlguiding Dundee descended on the Caird Park for Adventure on your Doorstep. Members of the Girl Guides ranging in age from four to 16 took part in the activity day, which featured stations involving circus skills, rock climbing and arts and crafts. Members of the rainbows, brownies and guides battled through torrential rain to make it to the centre and had turns doing activities at eight different stations.

Iconic ice hockey team the Dundee Rockets will return to the rink for the first time in 37 years on Saturday. The Rockets were a household name in the early 1980s and dominated the British ice hockey scene until their demise in 1987. Now the Rockets have reformed due to a merger of Dundee’s two Scottish National League Teams, the Comets and the Tigers. The formerly fierce enemies have come together as one after both sides found it difficult to put together competitive sides.

A Forfar street has been closed by police after a crash involving a tractor. Several police units were called to South Street shortly after midday on Sunday. A witness said there was a collision involving two cars and a tractor. It is not known if anyone has been injured but paramedics are at the scene. One resident said: “I left my house to see a huge police presence and a cordon.
