Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, with 2.3 million new cases worldwide in 2020 [1]. A subtype of breast cancer, triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for ∼15% of all breast cancer cases and is characterized by the lack of ER, PR and HER2 [2]. TNBC has the worst prognosis among all breast cancer subtypes, with a median overall survival (OS) of 13 months in patients with metastatic TNBC compared with 38 months in patients with other types of breast cancer [3].
