1 INTRODUCTION Anthropogenic climate change is driving reconfigurations of entire ecosystems, as species shift their distributions to track favourable thermal environments (Lenoir et al., 2020). This pattern is particularly strong for marine ectotherms, which generally occupy most of their thermal niche so that their distributions are strongly constrained by temperature (Sunday et al., 2012).
