Kent Police officers are appealing for help to find a 50-year-old man missing from Maidstone who has connections to Thanet. Mark Jack was last seen in the Hermitage Lane area at around 3.45pm yesterday (June 4) and officers are growing concerned for his welfare. Mark is white and of a slim build, with white, wavy hair.

Tickets are live for Oktoberfest at Quex Park, as the event returns to Thanet to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Taking place on October 18, Oktoberfest offers traditional German Bier that can be served in up to two pint steins; German food including bratwurst and pretzels, plus a range of other drinks including cider, prosecco, spirits and wine. New this year will be the Bavarian Beer Bar, mini trader village, photo booth and glitter.

A special engineering project to improve the environment for the local bird population has taken wing at Chilton Primary in Ramsgate. The school is working with the Royal Society to run an exciting and important initiative that ties in with STEM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). It involves Year 4 pupils who will be taking part for the next two academic years and will run until they near the end of their primary education in Year 6.

The Saturday market formerly held at Manston airport has found a new home – The Oval Bandstand and Lawns in Cliftonville. Last month the organisers of Manston market announced it is to shut with immediate effect. The Saturday market at the airport was previously run by Bray Markets, which also is in charge of the Friday market at Ramsgate. It was taken over by Les and Michael Stevens, who launched as Stevens Markets, in May. But soon after the closure was announced.
