On Saturday, UPrising Dance Crew hosted their annual showcase, the Waves Show, at the Robsham Theater. As audience members filed in 30 minutes before the show began, non-stop chatter and excitement followed. UPrising is focused on an urban, hip-hop influence, incorporating a variety of styles and elements of dance such as concepts, visuals, and acrobatic stunts.

“Empowered. Confident. Optimistic. Supported. Recharged.” These are some of the words the October 2024 Lead With Influence cohort used to describe how they were feeling at the end of the four-week program. As the program lead, I was thrilled, because the words reflect some of the training’s main goals — to help participants feel empowered in themselves, to realize they’re not alone, and to return to their jobs re-energized with new skills to try.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, the Robsham Theater Arts Center welcomed five of Boston College’s a cappella groups to its stage for the fall A Cappella Showcase. Despite a small turnout, the groups brought a warm, intimate energy to the theater, and the cheers of family and friends filled the space.
