A hot day around the Coachella Valley as we return to triple digits temps today through Sunday. Saturday is shaping up to be the hottest day of the year so far, with inland valley temperatures running 20-25 degrees above average. This heat is courtesy of a strengthening ridge of high pressure, which will peak in intensity tonight and Saturday. A noticeable cooldown begins Sunday as the ridge begins to shift east, dropping high temperatures by 5-10 degrees.

A gorgeous, warm end to the work week, but winds are increasing this evening and especially intothe weekend. A much stronger low-pressure system is moving into the West Coast and sliding down into Southern California. Here at 4pm, we're already seeing winds begin to strengthen throughout the valley. Because of this, we've issued a First Alert Weather Alert in effect for all day tomorrow and Sunday, with gusts potentially reaching up to 40-50mph (some isolated locations could see stronger gusts).

Our sunny and Spring weather continues across the Coachella Valley through the work week with diurnal afternoon and evening winds kicking up a little into the latter half of the day. Today has been gorgeous and seasonal, though we're tracking big changes in our weather pattern as we head into the weekend. We're tracking much stronger winds and a massive drop in temperatures, triggering a First Alert Weather Alert for all day Saturday and Sunday. Let's start with this evening first.

Happy Stagecoach and Desert Rodeo Weekend! We've been talking about winds all week and winds remain the main topic of discussion into the weekend. This afternoon winds have ramped up across the valley, especially through our mountain passes. We've already seen peak gusts between 50-60 mph so far today. Air Quality will continue to be something we continue with poor conditions expected into the evening.

After a warm start to the week across the Coachella Valley as temperatures climb today and tomorrow. High pressure is still hanging on for now, keeping skies clear and temps in the low 90s-about 5 degrees above normal. The desert stays in the low 90s through the work week. A series of passing troughs this week will maintain onshore flow across the region.

It's the *gasp* for me guys 😂😂😂 https://t.co/0SzaXMvuce

S'cuse me. Pardon me. Coming through!! That ridge of high pressure is shoving our closed upper low (that's been moving at a snail's pace) to the east. That = more sunshine & warmer temps late week and early next week. @KESQPatrick has your forecast at Noon on @KESQ https://t.co/f4YnPbBCTY
