Today’s recommendations are so long that email readers will need to click through to view the full post online. I’ll be back in the bookshop on Friday, and I’ll tell you all about it in the full free Receipt from the Bookshop then. If you enjoy reading my work please consider a paid subscription to access everything - it’s still the cheapest one out there and the quality is medium to well-done! You can interview me for that promotion here.

Morning! I’m here bright and early because I had a couple of errands in town before I opened up, but I couldn’t afford to be late in case the delivery was early. The errands actually took about a quarter of the time I had allowed, so now I’m here way earlier than I meant to be, but in a stroke of luck I was here just in time to hear a lady outside ask her little dog if he thought it was time for a sausage.

Book Club posts are for paid subscribers. A monthly subscription costs less than this small roll of William Morris print washi tape I just bought. What am I even going to put it on?! Huge thanks to my newest subscribers, I can’t wait to write for you. If you enjoy reading my work please consider a paid subscription to access everything including these monthly book club discussion threads.

Hello! Good Morning! Hi! It’s Thursday again for crying out loud, what am I doing here? Well, unbelievably, my daughter’s school are still dragging out the Easter holidays, which means my schedule is all out of whack and I have swapped my days again. Apologies! Normal service will resume next week. I must also offer an apology to my paid subscribers this week, as there was no additional post for them, but there will be two next week to make up for it (book club and monthly media round-up).

Good Morning! Good Thursday! Once again I’m here to confuse the heck out of you by writing to you on a day that is not Friday. You see, tomorrow is Good Friday, and the bookshop will be closed. Not because we’re religious ourselves, we just love to take a day off and celebrate chocolate. If you were a subscriber to my newsletter this time last year, you’ll remember that last Good Friday the shop was also closed, but Business Mum didn’t tell me, so I turned up and opened it anyway. A classic episode.
