NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Hundreds of participants are set to take part in the fifth annual Charleston Memorial Stair Climb at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday, and organizers say there’s still time for the public to join the tribute. The event honors the 412 first responders who died on Sept. 11, 2001, as well as local heroes who have died in the line of duty. The climb begins at 8:46 a.m., the exact time the first plane struck the World Trade Center’s North Tower.

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) - Families affected by gun violence will come together this weekend for the annual Tri-County Orange Walk, hosted by the Bradley Blake Foundation. The three-mile walk begins and ends at the Moncks Corner Recreation Complex on East Main Street. Line-up starts at 7 a.m. Saturday. The event is free and open to the public.

(WCSC) - A Charleston man’s shocking encounter with a barracuda during a trip to the Virgin Islands last May is serving as an unusual but timely reminder of boating safety concerns as more people head to the water for summer. Bradley McQueen was on a diving trip near St. John with his longtime friend Rusty Day when the incident happened. “I had the bowl in my hand and was just churning it up trying to get all that butter out of the bowl,” McQueen recalled.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A new wrongful death lawsuit is expected to be filed against two Lowcountry nursing homes, alleging that negligence at both facilities caused the death of a resident. Samuel Harrison, the plaintiff, has filed a notice of intent to sue Riverside Health and Rehab and White Oak Manor, arguing both facilities failed to properly care for Edna Harrison before her death in Sept. 2023.
