The Lake County Commission has denied a rezoning request that would make way for a continuing care campus just outside of Lady Lake. In a unanimous vote last Tuesday, the commission rejected plans for Tranquility Ridge Village, which called for a 144-bed assisted living facility, 120-bed skilled nursing facility and 124-unit independent living facility on 31 acres east of US Highway 27/441 and west of Grays Airport Road. The county’s planning and zoning board recommended denial.

The Lake County Commission this week postponed a hearing on the first concept for a rural conservation subdivision in the county. The commission adopted design standards for these subdivisions in January 2023 and the project, Heritage Green, is the first of its kind to come up for approval. Commissioners were ultimately concerned about the lack of detail in the proposal and continued the hearing for 90 days.

A plan for an industrial park at The Hills of Minneola cleared Minneola’s Planning and Zoning Commission last week. The commission unanimously approved a site plan for the first phase of Camp Lake Commerce Center within the Hills of Minneola PUD. Plans for the park, done by Paulson Mitchell Inc., call for two warehouses — a 182,700-square-foot building and 195,320-square-foot building — on about 170 acres. Skorman Development and Strategic Real Estate Partners are behind the project.
