(Bloomberg) -- Tiger Brands Ltd. surged to a seven-year high after South Africa’s biggest listed food producer lifted its interim dividend and said it would also pay a special dividend after profit climbed 34%. The maker of Albany bread and Jungle Oats plans an interim dividend of 4.14 rand a share for the six months through March and a special payout of 1.8 billion rand ($100 million), or 12.16 a share, it said in a statement Wednesday.

(Bloomberg) -- Harmony Gold Mining Co. has agreed to buy MAC Copper Ltd., enabling the top producer of South African gold to gain a further foothold in Australia and increased exposure to copper. Harmony is offering $12.25 for each MAC share, implying a total equity value for the Australian company of about $1.03 billion, the gold miner said in a statement Tuesday. The firm will use a $1.25 billion bridge facility and existing cash reserves to pay for the purchase, it said.
