    As part of its efforts to grow and raise capital, AI platform Skillmaker.ai has landed several contracts and partnerships, including its most recent partnership with Cape Fear Ventures. The startup accelerates the time it takes to train people to competency, according to Robin Cowie, Skillmaker.ai’s founder and CEO. “Currently, it takes two years for an auto technician to be trained for NAPA. We’re reducing that to 25 days,” he said.

    Work is moving ahead on a new intermodal rail yard at the Port of Wilmington, with the project on track for completion next year. The $22.5 million intermodal rail yard project broke ground in the fall of 2024, according to a N.C. Ports spokesperson. It will add four new working tracks to the Port of Wilmington’s container terminal with a combined length of 5,000 feet.
